About Butt Augmentation Plastic Surgery
Why
does Dr. Lefkovits use the fat grafting technique in buttocks augmentation
(also known as Brazilian Butt Fill™ surgery)?
Dr. Lefkovits uses the fat grafting technique for buttock augmentation
because it provides for a more natural and aesthetic result. In
addition fat transplantation allows for customized augmentation,
concentrating in the areas that are most deficient and most desired
for enhancement by the patient. He does not use a butt implant plastic
surgery because it’s a foreign body with all its possible
untoward effects including: unnatural feel, insufficient projection
if placed under the muscle or capsule formation or distortion (if
placed above the muscle), asymmetry, higher incidence of infection,
possible nerve injury (if placed under the muscle), extreme postoperative
pain( if under the muscle), higher chance of asymmetry, and prolonged
postoperative course.
Dr.
Lefkovits uses 2 small incisions to carefully place droplets of
fat in different levels throughout the buttocks. This gives a more
natural shape and feel to the buttocks. By placing small amounts
of fat in different tunnels, it increases the likelihood that the
fat particles will be surrounded by healthy blood supply, which
will nourish the fat cells and maximize their chance for survival.
What
are the risks of buttock augmentation using fat grafting (butt fat
injection)?
The main risk is that in about 30% of the patients significant fat
absorption occurs early on necessitating a second grafting procedure.
It is unlikey that further butt fat injection procedures would be
necessary. Other risks such as bleeding, infection, and scarring
are unlikely.
After
a fat transplantation procedure, how do the buttocks feel to the
touch?
Your newly shaped buttocks will usually feel natural after the healing
process. Since the additional shape is created by your own living
cells, your result will look and feel normal. You will not even
be able to distinguish which areas have been grafted.
Do
I need to wear any special garments after butt enhancement surgery?
You will wear a special surgical garment for 1-2 weeks after surgery
for comfort and to minimize swelling. You will also be encouraged
to have massage and ultrasound sessions beginning one week after
surgery to minimize swelling, hardness, and to accelerate the healing
process. This provided in-house. We realize that this is not practical
for our out of town patients, and we suggest that they have these
treatments in their home town whenever possible.
When
can I resume exercise after my butt augmentation procedure?
Each patient will have his or her timetable depending on the exact
procedure performed and individual health factors. Most patients
can resume progressive exercise after 2 weeks, gradually getting
back to the preoperative level after about 6 weeks.
When
will I be able to sit?
You will be able to sit from the first day of your buttock enlargement
surgery. However, sitting for prolonged periods of time right after
surgery is not encouraged.
Why
is it important to choose an experienced surgeon for buttock augmentation?
Like anything else, experience matters. Choosing a plastic surgeon
who performs buttock augmentation on a routine basis will increase
the likelihood that you will have an optimal result.
